ORDINANCE NO. 1700

AN ORDINANCE FOR AMENDING SECTION 1-202 AND 1-203 ARTICLE II GOVERNING BODY OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF GOODLAND.   

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF GOODLAND, KANSAS:

SECTION 1-202 SHALL BE AMENDED TO:

Sec. 1-202. Mayor

The commission shall choose its own chairperson annually during the 2^nd regular meeting in the month of January and determine its own order of business. The chairperson shall have the title of mayor during the term of his or her office. The mayor shall vote as a commissioner and shall execute formal agreements requiring the signature of the mayor, but shall have no administrative duties.

SECTION 1-203 SHALL BE AMENDED TO:

Sec. 1-203. Vice-chairperson.

The commission shall annually, at the 2^nd meeting in the month of January, shall choose a vice-chairperson. The vice-chairperson shall have the title of acting mayor, and in the absence of the mayor from any meeting of the commission, the acting mayor shall preside. In the absence of the mayor from the city or his or her inability to perform any of the duties imposed upon the office, the acting mayor shall exercise the duties of the office of mayor. 

THIS ORDINANCE amending Sections 1-202 and 1-203 shall become effective on January 1, 2018.
