Ordinance 1751 – Continuing Education for Contractors
ORDINANCE NO. 1751
AN ORDINANCE ADOPTING CODES 4-337, 4-411, AND 4-1114 FOR CONTINUED EDUCATION FOR MECHANICAL, PLUMBING AND ELECTRICAL LICENSES
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF GOODLAND, KANSAS:
SECTION 1. The City of Goodland hereby amends Article III of the Electrical Code to adopt Section 4-337- Continued Education, to read as follows;
All electrical contractors require all persons receiving such license annually to obtain not less than 12 hours biennially or six hours annually of continuing education approved by such local governing body. Not less than six hours biennially or three hours annually shall consist of code education. Nationally recognized trade association, community college, technical school, technical college or other provider approved by the local governing body. All hours of education shall consist of training relative to construction, maintenance and code update training. The governing body shall not impose any restriction on the number of providers of such continuing education.
SECTION 2. The City of Goodland hereby amends Article IV of the Plumbing code to adopt Section 4-411-Continued Education, to read as follows;
All plumbing contractors require all persons receiving such license annually to obtain not less than 12 hours biennially or six hours annually of continuing education approved by such local governing body. Not less than six hours biennially or three hours annually shall consist of code education. Nationally recognized trade association, community college, technical school, technical college or other provider approved by the local governing body. All hours of education shall consist of training relative to construction, maintenance and code update training. The governing body shall not impose any restriction on the number of providers of such continuing education.
SECTION 3. The City of Goodland hereby amends Article XI of the Mechanical Code to adopt Section 4-1114- Continued Education, to read as follows;

Not less than six hours biennially or three hours annually shall consist of code education. Nationally recognized trade association, community college, technical school, technical college or other provider approved by the local governing body. The governing body shall not impose any restriction on the number of providers of such continuing education.
SECTION 4. This ordinance shall be in force and take effect as of June 6, 2022 and publication in the Goodland Star News.
