The City of Goodland Information Technology Department secures, maintains, and develops servers, applications, and networking for use by city employees. The IT department also maintains all City of Goodland websites and social media pages.
- Devise and establish IT policies and systems to support the implementation of strategies set by the City Manager;
- Oversee all technology operations (e.g. network security) and evaluate them according to established goals;
- Analyze business requirements of all departments to determine their technology needs;
- Inspect the use of technological equipment and software to ensure functionality and efficiency;
- Identify the need for upgrades, configurations or new systems;
- Recommend long-range and short-range management information systems plans and budgets;
- Evaluate department head requests for major systems development and/or research projects;
- Establish city-wide strategic policy for planning, development and design of information needs;
- Research management information systems hardware and software, including applicable vendor applications, database management, and operational control packages;
- Consult with and advise other department heads on IT management needs and problems;
- Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively to provide quality seamless customer service;
- Maintain all City servers, workstations and printers;
- Maintain access and error logs for all controlled systems;
- Maintain all City networks and network hardware, utilizing best practices;
- Installing well-functioning LAN/WAN and other networks and manage components (servers, IP’s, etc.);
