The High Plains Museum is pleased to offer an exciting array of programming in April to showcase the current exhibit Earth From Space on display through July 29^th. The High Plains Museum will be offering a variety of activities to spotlight space and land satellite images, as well as celebrating Earth Day and Arbor Day.

On Thursday April 4^th at 4:00 PM Dave Floyd of the National Weather Service will present how the NWS uses satellite images in their work to predict weather.  On Saturday April 6^th from 1:00 to 5:00 PM is the monthly Space Walk program that features fun geography activities. On April 13^th at 10:30 AM Terry Leonhart, a Quality Assurance Dimensional Inspection Technician at the Sierra Nevada Corporation and Goodland native, will present on the latest developments in the private sector involving air and space travel. In the afternoon the public is invited to learn about SNC’s Dream Chaser and build a space vehicle.

To celebrate Earth Day on the 22^nd and Arbor Day on the 26^th the High Plains Museum will have activities all day for families to enjoy!  For Earth Day come learn about ways to help protect our Earth, make crafts, and help the museum make an Earth Day quilt.  On Arbor Day get out and enjoy the City’s parks for fun and games and to learn all about trees.  Adults may also enter our photography contest of trees in the area.

On April 27^th the High Plains Museum and the Sherman Theater will be showing the documentary Harvesting the High Plains, a film made by Jay Kriss. The documentary presents the Dust Bowl story of farming in Northwest Kansas by John Kriss and Ray Garvey.  The free film screening will be at 1:30 PM.
